Brought my old car into the future.
My cars a few years old, but this made it feel brand new with wireless CarPlay. Didnt expect such a simple upgrade to make such a difference.
Review.
This adapter delivers on its promise of eliminating cables, enabling CarPlay wirelessly in the car. Its. tiny, discreet size makes it universally compatible, and the inclusion of both USB and Type-C adapters makes it universally compatible. Initial setup is quick, and the automatic connection upon starting the car works almost every time. While there may be a slight delay (a second or two) in the music playback, overall functionality is smooth. It’s an excellent convenience upgrade for any iPhone driver.
Works great..but.
Thanks to this little device, I no longer have to mess with a wire every single time I want to use CarPlay in my 2017 Mazda 6. Installation was easy and straightforward, plug it into a powered USB port, then pair it to Bluetooth on your phone, that’s it. In CarPlay, it shows up as another car on your list. However, there was a weird glitch when I first hooked it up. Some of the physical controls in my car did not work, such as the scroll/selection wheel and forward/back buttons. These features only worked if I touched the screen, but that’s not safe to do while driving. I tried reinstalling and restarting the car and the CarPlay app numerous times, but no luck. I was ready to return it, then oddly enough, after I parked the car and came back 20 minutes later, everything suddenly worked, and it’s been totally fine since. I have no idea why this happened, but I’ll come back and report if it happens again. Other observations. The small size is very convenient, as it makes it easy to plug into tight spaces, and it does include a short USB extension cord for those situations where you can’t make it fit. Being a Bluetooth device, the audio quality is not going to be on par with a wired connection, so there is a small compromise in sound quality in exchange for convenience. Since it is detected a different car in CarPlay, you will need to reconfigure the screen icons to your preference, as they will be different from the arrangement you had previously.
